On December 7-8, 2024, Academician Wang Bowei, founder of ACF Laboratory, was invited to attend the third International Conference of Academicians. During the meeting, Academician Wang Bowei was awarded the honor of "Academician of International Academy of Science and Technology", and signed the agreement to build a joint research institute. At the same time, a speech titled "Research on bionic energy-absorbing materials and their applications in the field of shock vibration" was published.

The conference is planned and hosted by the organizing committee of the International Academician Conference, comprehensively focusing on new quality productivity, focusing on the frontier hot spots in core fields such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, new energy, and new materials, with science and technology leading and industry upgrading as the theme. Subsequently, in his speech, Academician Wang Bowei first introduced the background of material research and development, and stressed the importance of protective materials and structures in achieving a safe and comfortable life for human beings. He pointed out that the current buffer materials and structures on the market have many limitations, such as large weight, high thickness, single-use or non-adjustable performance, and there is a lack of lightweight, ultra-thin, high protection, high support and adjustable performance materials on the market.

In response to these problems, Academician Wang's team developed artificial cartilage biomimetic energy-absorbing metamaterial (ACF) technology. The technology is inspired by articular cartilage and gives the material excellent energy absorption properties through multi-layered structural design. Academician Wang demonstrated the strong buffering properties of ACF through experimental videos and compared it with traditional materials, highlighting its technical advantages. In terms of application, ACF materials have been widely used in many fields such as human protection equipment, electronic product protection, industrial shock absorption, and transportation vehicles.
